Some people just have too much free time on their hands...
According to news reports today, there are petitions being circulated encouraging the powers that be at "Sesame Street" to allow Bert and Ernie to enter into a 'same sex' marriage...
Here is a statement from a "Sesame Street" publicist...
Bert and Ernie are best friends," the statement said. "They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most 'Sesame Street' Muppets do), they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation."
That's a great explanation... our kids grow up way too fast the way it is... there's plenty of time for them to learn other facts of Life...
Now, if they want to have 'Sesame Street: The Later Years,' then go for it... maybe they could have a bunch of skits like this one...
But, until then, just leave them the fuck alone...

well its obvious that they are gay and there is nothing wrong with that, but they shouldn't change the characters!! I am still pissed at them for making the cookie monster eat less cookies!

ReplyDeleteI wondered how long it would take for that to finally come around. Everybody has joked for YEARS about Bert & Ernie being MORE than roommates. But I don't think you need to force parents to teach their kids about same sex marriage if they don't want to. And putting it on a children's show would be out of line and might cause a lot of viewers to stop letting their kids watch it.
