"New Orleans..."

Well I pawned my watch...
and I sold my ring...
Just to hear that girl sing...

~Spanish Moon~

I made my trip to New Orleans this past weekend...  I wrote about the upcoming trip HERE.  My daughter works at Tipitina's Uptown... one of my favorite bands (Little Feat) was scheduled to play Saturday night...  Needless to say, I was NOT disappointed!!  What a great show they provided.  Obviously, one misses the voice of Lowell George, but your mind tends to insert his voice.  The tricks our minds play on us sometimes...

'Tipitina's'

There are 1,001 great venues in which one can see great musicians and listen to their music in New Orleans...  A word to the ladies that attend such shows, however...

Don't show up looking like this...

... and expect us guys to NOT look...

We are just wired that way...

What is a trip to New Orleans without
a visit to the French Quarter...

... and what is a trip to the French Quarter without a visit to the Cafe du Monde...

... where one can enjoy a cup of chicory coffee and an order of beignets...

Yum!!!

New Orleans is full of great restaurants... just full of them... my personal favorite is
Jacques-imo's... go HERE  to visit their website... it's a great, little funky hole-in-the-wall restaurant that will just knock your socks off!!

This is what it looks like on the outside...

This is what it looks like on the inside...

The ambience is out of this world!!!  This is my absolute most favorite-est place to eat in New Orleans... I tell myself that I need to try other restaurants, but... this place just won't let me.  Have any of you ever dined here?

One my trip home, I was compelled to drive through Slidell, LA... and visit the grave site of my good buddy, Robert... he was my colleague that suddenly died two years ago.  I wrote about him HERE, and HERE

One of the things that has bothered me... is that on past trips to New Orleans, I would stop to visit Robert, and... he didn't have a headstone.  I'm not sure why it bothered me, but it did.  I was pleased to see that in the time since my last visit, he finally has one.

Odd how it made me feel better...

For Robert...

I still miss you, my friend...

"Lie To Me..."

"It Doesn't Matter Any More..."

What a great song!

Anyway, I digress...

I am feeling foolish... I am feeling gullible... I am feeling naive...

I do not like feeling foolish... gullible... naive...

I think, overall, I'm too gullible... I am too trusting... I tend to believe what others tell me.

Is there a difference between feeling foolish and feeling gullible??

Does one have a more negative connotation than the other??

Upon which party does the onus for a person feeling this way fall?

I am convinced that Charlie Brown was gullible...
whenever he trusted Lucy to let him kick the ball.

We all have people we deal with in  our daily lives that are less than honest with us..

For example, from'The Outlaw Josie Wells,' we have this moment:

*cries*

Does Jesus really think I'M a dumbass this time???

"Little Feat..."

Feats Don't Fail Me Now...

One of my favorite bands of ALL times is Little Feat...

For a band that had a classic New Orleans sound,
they hailed from Los Angeles, California, where they
formed back in 1969...

George Barrere and Lowell George

My favorite album (yes, vinyl) is 'Waiting For Columbus,' a live recording and, to me, the bestest song on the album is 'Spanish Moon'...

The second best  song on the album is 'Dixie Chicken...'

Lowell George died in 1979, at the terribly young age of 34...

Anyway... my daughter called me and told me that Little Feat is playing at Tipitina's down in NOLA on July 28... and she is getting me tickets for a belated Father's Day gift... I can hardly WAIT!!!

Paul Barrere is still playing with them... I'm not sure if any other original members are still with the band... but all the same, it doesn't matter...

I'm going...

"I Scream..."

You Scream...

We All Scream...

For Ice Cream...

When I was a little boy, this is one of a few rhymes that my Dad would recite.  He said he learned in grade school.  I would give my interest in Hell to hear him say it again...

...However

I think any 'ice cream' reference here is secondary in nature...

At lunch today, I saw this young lady performing... well... some kind of sex act on an ice cream cone.  Needless to say, she had the attention of most people in the establishment... I'm surprised there wasn't a vice squad raid.

Damn...

She's having to use both hands...

Obviously, it wasn't from HIM!!

Maybe a bit more of a controlled approach...

Not an ice cream cone...
but as I stated above, this post really isn't about
ice cream...

Hmmm.... a little girl-on-girl
ice cream action here.

Maybe a second cousin to ice cream...

maybe...

It's difficult concentrating this afternoon...

"Kama Kama Kama..."

Chameleon...

No...

Wait...

That's not what I was thinking of...

THIS  IS!!!!!!!

So, blame this on my head ache medication... or possibly on the fact that I just am not right...

I was thinking about the Kama Sutra... and I am assuming you DO know what that is... no??  If not, you need to know that it is an ancient Indian (dot, not feather) text that is widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior...

There are some down right disturbing images, there are... I don't see how most people could perform in those positions...

However, I have found some images that I bet you thought never existed...

This may well be the saddest Kama Sutra image I've found... I guess there is not much sadder than a single man and  a cat...

This appears to be an offering of Kama Sutra positions for computer repair people...

This is the month of July on a Russian calendar page that is dedicated to the Kama Sutra... kind of a position-for-a-day concept...

I guess that it's appropriate that musicians aren't neglected...

I guess  Moms and Dads would make to take special care to not make school cookies for their kids parties with these cookie cutters...

Even President Clinton got in on  the act...

Yes, it is...

This image is from the Orangutan Kama Sutra...

I guess monkeys do it too...

... and this one?

It's just professional wrestling...

I'm thinking that it's time for another dose...

"Saturday..."

Japanese Rain Goggles...

There was an episode of 'Two And A Half Men' where Charlie Sheen's character made reference to having been the recipient of said goggles during sex play between himself and Jenny McCarthy...

Of course, I've heard of beer goggles, but I don't think that's the same thing...  I wonder if there are such a thing as margarita goggles... ???  I'm not sure how smart that would be , given how my head hurts now...

Supposedly, the internet was overwhelmed by people searching to see what they had been missing in their sex lives...

Was Gene Wilder looking at Japanese Rain  when he wore these?  I wonder if I could wear goggles like these in the class room? I wonder what the students would think?? Or even worse, what would the administration think???

Now that I think about it, that is probably what my ENT wore when  he did my sinus surgery last week.  If I was a doctor, that's what I  would do... convert the Operating Room into  the laboratory scene from Frankenstein...

... and any good doctor needs an able-bodied assistant. I don't know if I would want this assistant... especially if I were a woman receiving a boob job (see last post for reference)...

I went back to the dr yesterday for the post -op check up.  The best news is that he removed some stints that he had left in... he asked me how I had been doing, and I told him that  the previous 10 days were the worst days I had ever endured.

He used what appeared to be a medical version of a shop-vac to run up into my sinuses and get remaining gook out... If I take my pain  medication and I, I feel somewhat ok...   I can't wait to start feeling half way normal  again.

When I don't feel well, I like to take baths... long, hot baths... and I've been known to doze off from time to  time... and I got to thinking... damn, what if I dozed off taking a bath and drowned...  and how serious the obituary would have to be... or how seriously it would be received by the reading public...???

This is the flotation device, complete with goggles, that I have decided to purchase.

however, I've been told that they make 'arm floaties' that come in the shape of dinosaurs...

I know what I want for Christmas!!

I wonder if it comes in adult sizes????

My head hurts...
