"Hallowe'en..."

BOO!!!!!

My daughter has always marched to the beat of a different drum... I guess there is no one really to blame other than her parents. She just came about it honestly..

When she was little, Hallowe'en was always one of her favorite times of the year!!!  It just made sense then, that when she decided to get married... that she would get married on Hallowe'en Night... right at dusk... and have a costume wedding... and get married in New Orleans.

The Bride...

The Groom... the bride...
and special guest, Beetlejuice...

Daddy Redshoes and the Bride...

Happy Hallowe'en...

Happy Anniversary...
I love you, you Goofball...

"They Call Me The Breeze..."

October 20, 1977

Lynyrd Skynyd

Back in the day, there weren't many bands that would get my feet to tapping and cause me to break out in a big grin as much as Lynyrd Skynyrd could...

Their genre of music was good old fashioned Southern Rock... and in my opinion, they were the best.

This is one of my mostest favoritest Skynyrd songs...

 'Saturday Night Special'

... another mostest favoritest...

'Gimme Back MyBullets'

Skynyrd had just added Steve Gaines as a guitarist... Ed King had quit the band, claiming that he just couldn't keep up with the pace of touring that the band was experiencing.  Gaines brought great guitar skills and another voice to the band...

In November, '77, Skynyrd was going to headline a concert at Madison Square Garden.  They seemed to be set to take things to the next level.  Skynyrd was traveling from Greenville, SC to Baton Rouge, LA, when their chartered plane ran out of fuel and crashed right outside of Gillsburg, MS...

Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, as well as Gaines' sister, Cassie, were killed in the plane crash, along with the pilot and co-pilot, and Skynyrd's assistant road manager.  The surviving members of the band all suffered serious injuries from the crash.

In the years since, only two members of that version of Lynyrd Skynyrd are still alive... one being Artimus Pyle and the other, Gary Rossington.  Rossington is the only surviving member of Skynyrd that is in the band of that same name today.  Ricky Medlocke plays in today's version of Skynyrd... he was with them before the band achieved any form of notoriety...

Thirty-five years ago... where has the time gone?

It seems that we can work a life time for what we want from Life... attain it... and only enjoy it a short time.

I'm sure there is a Life Lesson in there somewhere...

"Boobs..."

At least these guys come about it honestly...

I see these photos from time to time... and there seems to be something funny about them...

"What the Hey!?!?!?!?"

"What the Hey!?!?!?!?"

I mean, they seem to know that they are looking at something... special...

Personally, I think he's looking in  the wrong place... but maybe it's why he's wearing glasses....

I guess looking at them is kinda like a"gate way drug"... it leads to licking...

There is a constant theme in all of these...

We probably never really out-grow that desire...

Maybe we know a good thing when we see it...

Some one is getting a head start here...

Lucky litte bastard...

There does seem to be an added benefit to this...

Supposedly, looking at boobs for only ten minutes a day can add five years to a man's life... the article went on to say that ten minutes of breast gazing is the equivalent of thirty minutes of aerobic activity...

And so it goes, huh??

"A Rolling Stone...

Gathers No Moss...

I have really been on a Rolling Stones kick here lately... makes me wanna get my Marantz receiver repaired, get a new turntable, and fire those mothers up.

Some sources cite Brian Jones as the original founder of the band, and as their fame grew, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards became the more prominent figures of the band.  Eventually, according to these sources, Jones was forced out of the band, and just a short time later was found dead.

'Have Mercy'

She said "Man, your baby gonna leave you
Her bags are packed up under the bed,"

'Have Mercy' was always one of my favorite early Stones songs.

'The Last Time'

The Stones have always used additional musicians in the studio and on the road. One of my favorite non-Stone Stones has been Chuck Leavell.  I first learned of him way back in some configuration of The Allman Brothers Band, after the deaths of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley.

Chuck Leavell

'Gimme Shelter'

Man O Man O Man O Man...

If there is a better opening riff for a song ever, I can't think of it... I love playing that with my Gibson 347 through my Peavey Delta Blues amp set at LOUD!!!!

Gibson ES-347

Damn, I love music...

... still in a bit of a funk, but this sure helps.

"subDudes..."

I've Got All The Time...

In The World...

'All The Time In The World'

These guys are one of my most favorite all-time bands... they are from New Orleans... To me, one thing that makes their sound so distinctive is that they substitute a tambourine for drums... and damn if its not great sounding.

'Primitive Streak,'I think, is their best album, although I do like the others...

'Carved In Stone'

To me, they have that quintessential New Orleans sound going on...

And of course... turn them up...

"I'm Calling...

BULLSHIT!!!!

So...

I'm in class this morning... and this 'student' is just texting away on his cell phone...

I stop my lecture, address him, and ask him to put his phone away... I have a zero-tolerance cell phone policy in my classes...

He looks at me... and says...

"I'm taking notes..."

I ask him... you can  type faster on your phone than you can write?

"Yes..."

I told him... that comment was SO FAR off the bullshit scale that it wasn't even funny...

Poor bastard...

The bad thing about a bullshit alarm going off is that it also tends to affect the 'Give-A-Fuck-O-Meter....'

I think I am going to save the 'Give-A-Fuck-O-Meter....' to my BlackBerry Screen...

Personally, I've just been busy... had to be out of town on work related stuff... my demeanor is still one of 'fuck it'... but it's ok...
