The last time I went out to Sante Fe, I found some great cards that had Native American sayings on them... I wish I had bought more... they were so insightful... so meaningful...
Here is a story that I ran across...
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said,"My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all...
"One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego., greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment...
"The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith..."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and
then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

One day, a young Indian boy was walking with his Father... and he asked his Dad how names for their People were selected...
The Father said... "One the day you are born... the Father steps out of the Tepee... and the name for the child is the first thing we see...
"For example... Running Deer over there... the first thing his Father saw was a deer running across a meadow... and Soaring Dove... the first thing her Father saw was a dove frolicking up in the sky...
"Why do you ask, Two Dogs Fucking?"

I read this on a blog a month ago...
ReplyDeleteA woman was driving slowly down a dirt road in Arozona. She noticed an old Indian woman in traditional tribal dress walking along the road, she offered her a ride. The Indian woman got in the car and they drove off. The Indian woman picked up a bag that was lying on the fron seat and asked the driver "what is this" She responded, it's a bottle of whiskey, I got it for my husband"
The Indian replied "Good Trade!"
