"EARLY Thursday Morning Ramblings of a Crazed Man..."

Man... what a week... Three work days so far... four fucking meetings about whether or not some of us will have positions at Alluvial Flood Plains State University next year or not...

In the meantime, the deans of the different colleges here all received $6,000 pay raises for this academic year...

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!

What the Hell is THAT all about?!?!?!  And the administration spent $75,000 for a new logo for the university...

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!

I mean...

WHAT
THE
FUCK
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Their logic is that the pay raises were necessary to keep quality administrators..
Folks... I KNOW them... I SEE them... they are NOT quality...

They have terminated people who only needed a few months more to get to 25 years of service... which is a boon to their retirement...

*sighs*  My hives have had a fucking field day this week...  I had to leave class one morning because my lower lip was starting to get really swollen...

Anyhoo...

I've really been on an "Eagles" kick this week... they are one of my favorite bands... of course, who is my favorite band is probably a function of who I am listening to at the time...

This has got to be one of the best songs EVER written... and performed...

To me, the Eagles transformed themselves four times...  When the first got started, they were orginally Linda Ronstadt's band... then they went out on their own... and in today's market, they would easily have been a country band... Don Henley,Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner, and Bernie Leadon...

They made several albums in this configuration... and somewhere around the time they recorded "On The Border," they used a studio musician by the name of Don Felder... who really gave a more "raw" definition to their music on that album... and pushed them more towards rock music...  About this time, Bernie Leadon became fed up with the internal politics of the band and decided to leave... and the Eagles asked Felder to become a permanent addition to the band...

A few years later, the Eagles made the best decision they probably EVER made... to hire Joe Walsh... the man is a musical genius.. he is a fucking mad man... he is an unbelievable guitarist...

A couple of years after the "Hotel California" album, Randy Meisner left the band... depending on which version one would believe, he either left on his own, or he was fired...  They replaced Randy with Timothy B. Schmitt... he came to the Eagles from Poco... the same band where they got Meisner...

"Hotel California" was written by Don Felder... he plays that totally intoxicating intro... and then he and Joe Walsh just scorch the stage with that outro solo... to me, that is when music is fun... when you can watch the interaction that they have between themselves...

Life needs to be fun... Life should be fun... its not fun right now at Alluvial Flood Plains State University...  I need to get back in a band... I wonder if the Eagles have an opening??

  3. The Eagles never had a bad song, to my reckoning. The Girl From Yesterday, Desperado, and many more.

  4. The Eagles Hotel California is definitely a family favorite. We've been singing it at gatherings and barbeques for years.

I am sorry about the shafting that's been going on at the University. That really sucks. Pisses me off. In this economy, no raises should be given.

  5. Don't you hate "the man"?? Don't you hate getting screwed by "the man?" Let's go live in a commune somewhere and make brownies!!

Love the Eagles too but I get your comment about whoever you're listening to at the moment. I think to those of us passionate about music - it wildly vacillates depending on what is going on in my life. Kind of a back drop if you will.

    Great post!!

Hope thing improve for you. If not, lemme know and i can send you some brownies. :)

@ Senorita... I agree.. or at least they could have given me a raise!!! But seriously... for all of the money that was mis-spent (in my opinion) they could have kept quite a few lower paid people who really needed their jobs...

@ Southern Girl.. yeah..."The Man" is keeping me down... Grrr @ 'The Man'... The commune? And Brownies??? you mean THOSE kinds of brownies?? I'm packed and ready!!!! Music, I tend to think of it as a sound track of my life... You will send me the brownies? You mean we arent going to the commune... :o(
