Hell...
(I wonder how they say, 'Good Morning' in Hell?)
Where am I?
(...checks map)
I'm in Brussels, Belgium...
Home of the Belgian Waffle...
David Bowie recorded a song, 'Golden Years'... in which the back up singers would sing something that sounded to me like... 'wah wah wah...' and for some reason, I would think of waffles... That sounds like something I would do...
Man, if I looked that good in a suit, I'd wear them ALL of the time!
The 'RedShoes Mystery Tour/PeeWee's Great Adventure has actually included elements from each. One reason that I haven't posted much on this trip has been due to the fact that I've been sick much of this journey. I don't know if it's mostly due to fatigue, or a bug... or nervousness about wanting to do my best... I've had some days where I couldn't wait to get back to my room and sleep...
I've been to Frankfurt, Germany and Aachen, Germany... I've been to Maastricht in The Netherlands... and to Leige, and now Brussels, here in Belgium...
My mostest favoritest place?
Maastricht... I LOVE the Dutch...
Granted, I've only come in contact with a small number of people in each place, but the Dutch smile... they seem happy...
I didn't get to see any windmills in Holland... I wish I had... But flowers? and Rain?? All over the place!! Especially poppies...
I Fly home.. back to the States... tomorrow. I can't wait to get home...
I noticed on the news that Bob Welch has died... he was a front man for 'Fleetwood Mac' before the Buckingham~Nicks version of 'Fleetwood Mac.
Bob Welch
So It Goes...
I will be posting photos and a re-cap of the trip... I will be by to catch up with your goings-on as well... I've missed you all...
~shoes~
I will be glad when you get home too.
ReplyDeleteI love poppies!!! They are so pretty when they are in mass... I can't wait to see photos!
And waffles? yummmm.... my favorite.
xoxo
be safe coming home.

I am so sorry that you haven't felt well during this trip. It is sucky to be traveling and just not feel "right." Especially such a big trip as this... Be prepared to sleep. The time difference will get you plus you are already fatigued. I think I slept 24 hours straight when I came back from Europe. It was CRAZY. Look forward to getting the lowdown on your trip, btw, because I am sure it did have its moments...
ReplyDeleteAh Shoes .......so near and yet so far. I'm guessing about 350-400 miles as the crow flies. I hope you feel better soon. Dying to hear about the trip!
ReplyDelete@ Robelyn and Robin... I'm ready to be home for all of the reasons I've stated. I hope the time lag isn't as bad on the return as it was on arrival here.
ReplyDeleteI was supposed to have had a summer school class waiting for me when I returned, but I decided to cancel it... I'm glad that I did. I just want some time to recover from all that has happened, figure things out, and decide what to do next... I'm tired. Good night from Brussels...

@ Leah... I hope I feel better soon as well. I'm just going to take some time off and be a bum... How are things in England tonight?
ReplyDelete~shoes~

ReplyDeleteHey you...Really? What kind of trouble would be have gotten into? ;o) Maybe you should have gone!!

Those waffles look SO NAUGHTY that I feel like I sinned just by looking at them (and maybe imaging rubbing them all over my nekkid body)
ReplyDeleteI haven't done much traveling so I'm always happy when I find people blogging about their travels. At least, I can live vicariously through Blogger.
*Note to Self: Get a life.
Hey you... are those not the BEST looking waffles!?!? I've been told that I can make good waffles... I need to check into the whipped cream and other aspects of waffling... of course, whipped cream has a host of other applications as well...
DeleteThis trip could have been better... based on planning and things that happened during the trip...
Life's a Bitch, so i hear...
I like this naughty side of you... ;o)
~shoes~
Oopsy. That was supposed to read "imagining". I guess I was a little distracted by my naughty waffle fantasy....
ReplyDeleteFeel better. Sucks to be taking an amazing trip and not feel 100%.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see photos and stuff...
Hi there, Ami. I know. A dr's appt yesterday explained a great deal. I was placed on an intense antibiotic for a condition I am experiencing, and the dr said he forgot to tell me that I could have negative results to the dosage... and so it goes.
DeleteAll in all, I'm glad to be home.

Hey there you!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you haven't been feeling too well- may in fact be the jetlag but whatever the case I'm hoping you make a speedy recovery. I'm looking forward in reading more about your adventures.
How was the food-- Were you able to indulge in any of those waffles?
Hey you! Thank you for the kind words...
DeleteI didn't get to enjoy as much of the food as I should have due to not feeling well, but I DID have the waffles! Those were WAY too enticing to let pass!!
I trust you are well!!

I'm sorry you're not having a better time. Safe travels on the journey home.
ReplyDeleteI also saw that Bob Welch died...and by his own hand. Such a shame. I love his work in Fleetwood Mac, and his 70's solo stuff. Thanks for the link to "Hypnotized" - one of my very favorite songs.
Hi, Max... Fleetwood Mac went through some transitions, with each one having its own identity... the Peter Green era, the Welch era, and then, of course, Buckingham-Nicks.
DeleteHow's the music coming along?

I have a belgian friend living nearby - I love her almost as much as the chocolate she brings me from her trips home. Hope you are feeling better. And yes, sad to hear about Bob Welch. Hypnotized is one of my all time faves.
ReplyDeleteHey you... Your friend lives close to
DeleteBrussels? What a great and active city that is! The Belgian chocolates are amazing!!
Thank you for your kind words.

Sorry to hear about your illness, but we have to think that even if you were completely well your first priority is to enjoy your trip, not to keep us updated regularly. That can be done when you return! Speaking of which, we wish you a safe trip back, and we look forward to your recap!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jack... I think I placed too much emphasis on the 'work' requirements of the trip rather than on the 'enjoyment' aspects.
DeleteI am so glad to be home. The fellow at the Customs gate, after talking to me briefly, said, "Welcome home..."
That meant so much to me...

To bad for the illness and my father in law was born in Belgium and still has family there.
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit there oneday.
I hope you feel batter once you get back and I can't wait to see your pictures and travel story.
Hey you... you need to go to Belgium. If you have family there, you need to meet them!
DeleteI would like to go back under different conditions... I think I worried too much about the work requirements of the trip, and not enough about the enjoyment part.
Thanks for the kind words!!
~shoes~
better, I mean :))
ReplyDeleteI was going to have a salad for lunch, but now I can't stop thinking about waffles.
ReplyDeleteJoshua... you would like the waffles MUCH better!!

Did you see any tulips in Amsterdam? I think I read, many moons ago that Belgium was supposed to be one of the most boring places on earth - not too sure if that's actually true though!
ReplyDeleteI didn't make it to Amsterdam... I would have loved it. There is an interesting story about that tulips are actually native flowers to Chna... Asia... and some bulbs wound up back in Holland, and given the better temperate area there, and the greater rainfall, that they actually thrived there...
ReplyDeleteBut I did see a lot of other flowers there...
