One Head Light...
The Wallflowers was one of my more favorite bands from back in the '90's...
What ever happened to the '90s?
Oh yeah...
'96-97'
My Dad died...
The Divorce...
never mind... silly question
What ever happened to The Wall Flowers??
They made up their minds...
and they started packing...
I would have figured that they had some staying power, but maybe the days of becoming a major headlining act and hanging around for many years is gone. After all, they have these TV shows that claim they can find our next new musicians... and they do... but they don't seem to last.
I liked The Wall Flowers' version of 'Heroes' better than David Bowie's... and I like Bowie's version. I just like the cover better...
...they left before the sun came up that day...
Does anything really ever last?
I don't think so...
'The Way'
Now, this was a cool song, and,I think, a WAY COOL music video...
To the best of my knowledge, the song was the only song ever recorded by the bass player... and I think it was their only real hit...
Why don't bass players get any love??
I mean, when it comes to groupies, the bass player gets the left overs... I think the bassist comes in (no pun intended) after the drummer...
... and the bass he used in this video. I LOVE a Fender Jazz Bass with the ash tray and pick-up cover.
they just drove off and left it all behind them...
I feel like these old vehicles today... maybe I need someone to come in... knock out the dents... give me a new coat of paint, re-wire me, and see if I have any additional mileage left in me.
But where were they going without ever knowing the way...???
I think I have turned the corner. I kind of feel kind of normal today... I don't feel 100%... I don't feel like going out and starting a fight or anything...

Haven't thought about the Wallflowers in years!. Too bad they were a one hit wonder... then again, there are way too many good groups/singers out there. As far as that fight, need any help? I'm goin' stir crazy!.
ReplyDeleteThe fight? Nah, I fugured I'd best wait and get a bit better before stepping out and biting off more than I can chew... you know?
DeleteI hope you had a great weekend!

Ahhhhh. The 90s. Give me a stripper pole and my costumes. These songs take me back.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the base players.
Happy weekend. xo
Hi, Christine...
DeleteI hope you had a great weekend! Hey, I heard you on 'Dr Drew' the other night!!
Congratulations!!

Maybe you're like the lyric in the song ONE HEADLIGHT: "I ain't changed, but I know I ain't the same." I love that line.
ReplyDeleteHi, Robin...
DeleteI do like that lyric as well...there are a lot of people out there who write songs, but just a few of them are really song writers...
I wish FaceBook still allowed for publishing a status that stayed on the bar for a bit... I would most certainly use that one.
More times than not, people aren't whom they seem to be, or tell you that they are...
I guess none of us really are.

One Headlights is the only song I really remember from The Wallflowers. Jakob didn't really achieve success like his dad.
ReplyDeleteWhat I remember about the 90s is I hated the whole grunge fashion look and on TV I loved "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air."
Glad you're feeling better.
Yeah, Bob came along at a magical time...
DeleteI hope I feel well enough to handle my class tomorrow... Summer II starts back.
Thank you always for your kind and supporting words...

I was wondering today how you're feeling.
ReplyDeleteOne of my co workers is in the hospital with an illness that has her doctors shrugging.
The Wallflowers never gave me much of a thrill, but most of the 90s weren't all that exciting. I mean, there were memorable moments (my daughter was born in 1993, we finally were able to buy our own home in 1996...) but I think I sort of slapped a coat of varnish on my music choices in the early 80s and haven't moved on too much.
Ami... I love your comment about slapping a coat of varnish on your music from the early 80s... I think we all do that to our preferred music...
DeleteI should hear a report this week on the biopsy... everything depends on that, I'm sure... :o)

The 90's was a decade where a lot of s@%t happened in my life - however loved music. Glad you're feeling better :0) xo
ReplyDeleteThere always has to be something from each era to which we attach parts of our spirits.. no? :o)
DeleteHappy Birthday to your wonderful country, Canada!!!

oh... i love the photos with this post!!! i adored the wall flowers... listened to them just the other day as a matter of fact!
ReplyDeleteas for things lasting forever... it's all about choice.
i'm glad you're on the mend...
;)
Nothing lasts forever... because it is all about choice...

Great stuff! The mid-to-late '90s saw me in my late teens to early twenties, and all of these songs bring back some great memories.

I know what you mean about wanting a makeover when we start getting older but sometimes the dents and chipped paint are more sexier than all shiny brand new..
ReplyDeleteit's been to long to remember much of why i didn't listen to a lot of music in the 90's but i do remember hearing this group and love their music
lol sorry but i had to giggle at your post about why don't bass players get any love. bass players do seem to get less acknowledged than the other band players but to me i like all instruments.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Wallflowers, too. Wasn't one of them Donovan's or Dylan's son?
ReplyDeleteSteven Tyler and Mick Jagger last. When the world ends it'll just be those two, cockroaches and Twinkies.
Glad you're feeling better. Climbing out of that abyss is a bitch. ;)
Just stopping by. First-time visitor. Saw a comment you made on Cocaine Princess' blog and decided to click through.
ReplyDeleteLove the Wallflowers!
Have a nice holiday too!
