"I'm Calling...

BULLSHIT!!!!

So...

I'm in class this morning... and this 'student' is just texting away on his cell phone...

I stop my lecture, address him, and ask him to put his phone away... I have a zero-tolerance cell phone policy in my classes...

He looks at me... and says...

"I'm taking notes..."

I ask him... you can  type faster on your phone than you can write?

"Yes..."

I told him... that comment was SO FAR off the bullshit scale that it wasn't even funny...

Poor bastard...

The bad thing about a bullshit alarm going off is that it also tends to affect the 'Give-A-Fuck-O-Meter....'

I think I am going to save the 'Give-A-Fuck-O-Meter....' to my BlackBerry Screen...

Personally, I've just been busy... had to be out of town on work related stuff... my demeanor is still one of 'fuck it'... but it's ok...

    1. Hi, Steven... yes, they are. I think this is the main reason I have become so disenchanted with my position here.

I get the sense... the feeling that so many of these students here just don't care.

  4. The level of stupid and rude in kids is appalling. Make that all young people. Anyone under 30 is suspect. Something happened with that generation that I just don't understand. But it is not good.

    1. Hi there, Robin... I totally agree. Of course, I remember my Mom and Dad saying the same thing about my generation... so who knows.

How are things going with you? Pretty ok??

  5. There's worse than cell phone rudeness...at least where I live. I'll take your cell phone rudeness over your crosswalk rudeness and your driving rudeness and your entitlement rudeness and and and. Sheesh. I'm sick of people. Let's run away to Mars. It's inhabitable now, right??? LOL.

  7. AAAArrrrgggghhhhh! The bastard cell-phones....bane of my life in class. We can now have a box on the desk and request all students to drop their phones in at the start of the lesson, to be collected on the way out. Great, but as a result the corridors at break time are full of morons using cell phones walking into walls, doors, tables, chairs and each other!

    1. I know... this is so helpless.

None of what they are talking about is/was important.

      Blah...

  8. You have to wonder how kids become this way? Is it lack of parenting or do kids simply have no respect for authority figures?

I have a special place in my heart for teachers because my sister is one. Hang in there, shoes.

    1. It seems that society has created this immediate "need-to-know" about stuff that really isn't that important at all.

I think it all boils down to a total lack of respect... but then what do I know.

      I'm a-hangin', Princess...
