  1. Damn damn damn. I loved her music. "Amy Amy Amy" was a favorite. Makes me so sad we will miss out on everything she had yet to come.

  2. Personally, I didn't think she would last this long. She was a mess. Such a shame.

  3. Yeah... a great talent, but she was obviously WAY over-due at this particular station... how sad.

Is it that they just can't handle the recognition?

The '27 Club' grows... Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Kobain... I know there are others...

  4. She had such an amazing voice and such talent. Terrible heartbreaking she could not beat her addiction.

  5. She did go, and then she went back in May and now she is dead. So much for rehab. I don't understand why people think rehab is some sort of magic wand. It's not. She went to rehab and then she died. Does that tell you anything at all?
Could it be that drugs are what kept her alive?

  6. Rehab isn't going to do squat if you don't want it to.

I agree, she was a mess and this wasn't surprising in the least.

  7. Her voice was one of a kind. A tragic loss, indeed. I hope she's at peace now.

  8. so sad. and i wish people would realize that addiction is just not something you can flip a switch and be done with.

i also read something yesterday that made sense: "men who die addicts are beautiful tragic poets. women who die addicts are stupid whores who should've known better." i think there's a lot of truth to that...

  9. I hope my post didn't come across as being snide and hateful... and I hope it didn't come across as like what Magnolia commented. If it did, I certainly apologize. I liked her talent... I liked her music.

I didn't see it as much as a personal demon she had as much as it seems to be a kind of demon that more creative people have to handle.

I liked her music... I was worried when she was booed off stage at her last performance...

I am also aware that handling these kinds of issues aren't easy. I have had first hand issues with my daughter and alcoholism... to the point where we had to sit down and discuss her funeral... I posted this somewhere. I needed to know before hand what she wanted...

On one of the news stories yesterday, it was said that her Father had already written her obituary. I think sometimes parents see that coming... I know I did...

I also know that this kind of treatment isn't a magic wand. My daughter wasn't able to get control of her Life until she was able and ready.

I think that this is a sad story that plays out way too often...

  10. Err...I think she did go. However, you have to want it. If you go because someone else wants it, it's really not going to do any good. I wouldn't say that she was an American icon...like Michael Jackson or Marilyn Monroe or Janis Joplin. But she was talented. And sometimes talent comes with a generous helping of demons. She'll be missed.

  11. I think it's sad that she didn't see how beautiful and talented she was... and she didn't have anyone around her to remind her to find herself... and to love herself. It seems she was always surrounded by those that only wanted a piece of her and her fame... no one to love her because she was "her".

    :(

  12. While I was not a big fan, I also don't like to
see such a young persons life end shortly
    due to drugs. So sad
