I'm feeling marginally better... When I went to the doctor last week, it was for some throat issues... I had mentioned before about getting sick back in October and the mess associated with that just lingered... lost my voice... had some nodules removed from my vocal cords...
Anyhoo, I went back to the doctor last Friday just to try to get some relief from a nagging cough and all that just wouldn't relent... the first thing the nurse did was check my blood pressure, and then look at me, and asked... ' you ARE here about your blood pressure aren't you?'
Hmmm... no.. I was here because I was
180/110
oh Fuck... I knew that wasn't good... the time spent with the doctor had little to do with coughing and stuff and about how I was in stroke/heart attack territory with that blood pressure... my heart was racing at around 100 BMP...
He prescribed some stuff for me... and it really hasn't helped a great deal... the night before last, when I was trying to go to sleep, I could hear/feel my heart rate against the pillow... it sounded like the drum solo from Iron Butterfly's 'Inna Gadda Da Vida'... I went back yesterday... very little change in anything... he changed the medication...
Anyhooters...
I owe you all some answers...
Wishing On A Star asked about where I would like to live and why... I think I would like to live either in the Santa Fe area... or maybe even Sedona... I think I wanna be a cowboy... would it be politically incorrect if I wore my Mattel Fanner 50s? I just like how I "feel" out there...
Zoey didn't have a question, but I do appreciate your comment.. thank you so...
Jen Fooled Around asked if there was anyone, dead or alive, I would like to spend 30 minutes with... Yes, My Mom... that shouldn't surprise anyone...
Catch Her In The Wry asked if I have found anyone special... or have I given up... I've had some horrible experience with Love and Relationships.. that's for sure... as I stated in my previous post... Yes... we have a lot of fun together...
Kurt wants to know what's for dinner... It's probably going to be yogurt and granola...
Jessica, the world Traveler wants to know my number one travel destination... I adored your photos of Iceland! It would either be there, or may Patagonia... have you ever seen photos of that place??
AnyThing Fits... asked about my favorite Christmas present... I think it would have been the Christmas that Santa brought me a bicycle... when we came out that morning, presents were everywhere... Mom always made it SO magical... anyway, the pantry door to the kitchen was closed... and I never thought about why... at some point, Mom asked me to go open the door to the kitchen to let some air circulate... and there was this GREAT bicycle!!! I will NEVER forget that...
Charlene asked about whether I wear a hat... what size... etc... From time to time I do... I saw a cowboy hat out in Santa Fe I wish I had bought last year... at the time, it seemed expensive, but I wish I had bought it... I wear a 7 3/4... I tend to wear hats properly... I don't think that there is a 'hood way' to wear a cowboy hat...
Robin... LOL... I knew what you meant... if you are a musician, you know that playing/jamming is so much fun... You know... I think George Harrison... he was the rather quiet, deep thinking BeaTle who came up with a few of their songs, yet, some of the most amazing...
K. didn't have a question, but I do appreciate your comment.. thank you...
France asked about my weekend activities (which would have been last weekend)... I was trying to get over feelings of impending doom... seriously... I was some depressed.
Danielle asked about what got me into blogging... you know, I don't recall... I know I had entertained the idea of creating a blog, even selected the name... I've journaled since the week my Dad had his stroke... I knew he wasn't going to survive and I wanted to document some things... my Dad's Death Journal turned into my divorce journal just about five months later... it's amazing how things happen like that...
The neatest thing out of journaling is that I've "met" you all... I enjoy reading what all you have to say... and I continue to be amazed that anyone reads my nonsense... especially when it comes to clown sex...
I will pass this forward to:
Danielle
Just Another Girl
Carol The Gardener
Amethyst Anne
Ubermouth
I sure hope I get to feeling better... blah...
~shoes~
yikes - i second that hope that you feel better soon.
ReplyDeletePatagonia. I imagine myself there with a small solid stone house and a few sheep to watch. It seems to me to be literally the ends of the earth. I'd be red cheeked from the constant wind and wrapped tightly in good cotton and wool with a warm fire and lots of books.
ReplyDeleteIf not for yogurt and granola, some guys would starve.
ReplyDeleteI love yogurt and granola. I have been eating it every day for brunch for over a month now. I tend to eat in waves. Or cycles. Whatever. I eat something until I get downright sick of it and then won't eat it again for a very long time. Hahaha. I don't know why I do it, so don't ask. George Harrison, eh? That's cool. As for your blood pressure, I imagine your doctor asked this already, but have you started taking any new meds in the last month or so? Some of them will cause increased heart rate, etc. My doctor gave me elavil to try and help with my fibro symptoms. It worked. But it bumped my pulse up to 100 and I got so faint every time I stood up, I fell back down again. Not good. So, sometimes the meds that help one way can hurt in others. I hope your doctor thought to look over your current list of meds. Also to see if anything might be interacting badly... especially since they probably prescribed something since you had that surgery. I am shooting in the dark here, but it is worth checking out. Hope you feel better soon. Take care of you. ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. Something is going around. My little one is sick too. xo
ReplyDeleteShoes, that isn't good. My blood pressure was up too when I went to the dr. last week but it was my pulse rate that blew her away it was 110 yep 110. I could feel my heart racing, she explained it was something about fight or flight..up some meds, put me one some new ones ect. I inlisted my best friend, who is also a wonderful massage therapist, to help me and I went on Tuesday and was sound asleep without meds at 9:30 and didn't wake until almost 11:00 the next day. You should try it if you can I am a firm believer. She does deep tissue/neur muscular manipulation not the fluffy kind of massage. I am beginning to feel a little better after some much much needed rest. Now...you feel better too!
ReplyDeleteGodspeed...
Carol
Firstly I would like to say, please feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading the Q&A on this post especially your Christmas memory, thanks for sharing.
I wouldn't mind living in the Santa Fe area- I love the desert scenery.....and HEAT!!!!
hmmmm.... is a Mattel Fanner thing a gun? 'cause I have certain response to guns... and if that is one I will be back.
ReplyDelete;-D
I'm glad you have fun and decided to take a chance on a new relationship and found someone special.
Take care of your heart - it's a beautiful one...
feel better soon.
(and you really can't go wrong with granola and yogurt. or grits.)
xoxoxo
gobbles
Oh, man - Patagonia is definitely on my list! Iceland was fantastic, but you might want to wait until Spring when there's a bit more daylight :)
ReplyDelete@ Magnolia... I am feeling better, thank you. :o) My pulse rate is back down into a more normal range. I was on paxil back when my Dad died and I was getting divorced... and when I went off of it, I went through 'withdrawl' issues with it... that is the feeling that the blood pressure medication is giving me now... I don't like how it feels. Thank you for your kind words...
ReplyDelete@ Charlene... isn't that the most beautiful place (Patagonia)? I would go there in a heart beat. 'The Today Show' did a segment on it a year or so ago... I like the setting you describe.
@ Kurt... fear of starving is what drove me to learn to cook... ;o)
@ Robin... I started eating yogurt and granola when I started canoeing with my good friend, Barry. I just kind of got hooked on it. As for your questions about medications, that is what stumps me. I seldom take anything. I had posted about my hives outbreaks not long ago, and took benedryl for that. I just tend to be in pretty decent health. I think that is one reason this revelation was such a shock to me.
@ Marnie... I would rather be sick than to see a child feeling ill. I hope the little one gets better...
@ Carol... Hmmm... 'fight or flight...?' I'm not sure I have any of those issues going on with me. My perception of everything right now is that it's pretty ok... I may have to rethink that.
Hmmm... a massage does sound good. I've never had a real one before. I may have to check into that... Thank you for your kind words... :o)
@ Cocaine Princess... Thank you for your well wishes... :o) My parents (Mom really) made for the best Christmases for her kids. I hope my children will have Holiday memories similar to those that I have of my childhood.
Have you been to Santa Fe? It is beautiful. :o)
@ Gobbles... when I was a kid watching Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and all of that stuff, every boy wanted a Mattel 'Fanner 50' If you were lucky, you got a double holster set. I wish I still had mine. They bring a pretty $$ in the collectible toy market today.
Grits are good for the soul... especially cheese grits...
@ Jessica!! I KNEW you would know about Patagonia!!! Yeah, I know about the daylight issues down there!! I wish I could travel more... :o) I hope you are having a great day...
~shoes~
Yes, please I hope you do feel/get better soon. Getting older sucks, huh?
ReplyDeleteShoes, seriously thanks for the forward although I now have to read back to find out what I have to do. What is it with Profs and homework! Sheesh! :)
ReplyDeleteYou sir need a relaxing get away, even if it is over the weekend at some local spa or a yoga class. I concur with Carol- deep tissue is the way to go.
Stay well, and just breathe!
Aww, Shoesies, I am sorry to hear about your health. When you said your throat was really sore, I was about to tell you to get off your damn knees, but that is highly inappropriate, especially since your health is no laughing matter.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get better soon.
Consider consulting with a Nephrologist. Did I spell that correctly?
ReplyDeleteA male friend of mine has had horrendous problems with his blood pressure. Turns out it was a kidney problem.
And it took them a long time to figure it out.
Hope you're feeling a lot better really soon.
okay - I should have read that one first - that explains the other post - and that's bad I can imagine but at least you know so you can look after yourself. No second-guessing. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteAwesome answers, Shoes!! I just LOVE the responses my "Christmas present" question gets! What an awesome story! Thanks so much for sharing it. Your mom sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat stinks, hope you get to feeling better.
ReplyDeleteCOngrats on the award. : )
Kittycat
XOXOX
I am here!!!!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWith as much as you have helped me feel better over the last few months, I want to help you feel better. I will just keep my thoughts with you! Get better damn it!!!!!
are you getting better now? Pei Pa Koa (www.geocities.jp/ninjiom_hong_kong/index_e.htm ) is one of the few Chinese natural cough remedies that have been scientifically studied. it's something like herb plus honey, and it's sweet, thick and black in color. If you have a cough, look for it! It used to be one of my favourite natural cough remedies.
ReplyDeleteif your cough persists, seek professional help such as traditional Chinese medicine physicians - I have had very good experiences with them.
