I received an email today from a former student... whenever I get to second-guessing why I do what I do... why I teach, it's contacts like this that re-affirm what and why I do this...
Mr. Shoes,
It was so good to talk to you the other day. I will always remember the important part of my life that you impacted. I am so appreciative of you and the care that you have for your students. I wish I could take your classes again. I would think they were a breeze. If we could only go back…… I have attached the Job Description. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much. Hope you have a great day!

If your former student is responsible for hiring, best to stay in her good favors in case the teaching ship sinks after this year.

ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it's nice to hear that you made a difference for someone. We all strive to have some kind of self-worth.
it's the coolest feeling ever when someone takes time to tell you that you impacted them in some way. that's a great feeling.
ReplyDeleteand on the flip side, there's nothing like a professor who really gets you and makes a difference. i've had a few in my time, which makes me a very lucky girl indeed. teachers rock. :)

I'm with Vixen, the Miss Piggy one is just wrong. The pic, the oral sex comment, all just wrong. wrong. wrong :|
ReplyDeleteThank you for the blog today, made me smile. And thanks for checking in every now & then. Missed you!
Happy Belated Bloggy Birthday! I too have had some pretty extraordinary professors in my time. Sometimes there are those people who just reach and Inspire you and they deserve to hear it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to hear it too!
My Shakespeare professor was senile. Falstaff had one hell of a time when his head became a donkey and some guy sliced up Mercutio.
