Thank GOD it's Friday...
I'm at work... but shhhh.... don't tell anyone...
I'm goofing off....
In an attempt to get myself jump-started for the weekend, I'm listening to some music here in the office and hoping not to get into too much trouble with music content...
I've posted before that one of my most favorite musicians in John Hiatt... the man is a brilliant writer and performer... and one of my favorite songs is 'Little Head'... if you are thinking that the song is about his penis... well... it is!!!
Another one of my favorite Hiatt songs was used in 'True Lies' when Jamie Lee Curtis was stripping for the future governor of California...
I have several friends that I jam with from time to time... and we like to tinker with songs... we combine this song with 'Riding With The King'... which John also wrote... they segue into each other just right... I posted a clip of this song here... Now we are trying to fix it where we can move right into 'Take Me To The River'... and end up with a really long slow dance song... women love bass players on slow dance songs... and men love slow-dancing women...
We play at a place that looks a lot like the place in this video... it's in Clarksdale, MS... if you are a fan of the Blues, then you've heard of Clarksdale... it's the home of Muddy Waters and a host of other great bluesmen...
This is Steve Winwood... he started his music career as the lead singer for the 'Spencer Davis Group'... his voice was astounding for a 17 year-old... He later went on to join 'Traffic' and was involved in a host of other great music collaborations...
Thank God for music, I guess... it has sure kept me out of a great deal of trouble...

I need to start getting better text messages! Mine say things like can you help take down the xmas tree, can you help move a dresser. you are watching the T-Rex tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love Steve Winwood he is one black, white man.
I would PAY for those kind of text messages! And Amen to Bathwater on Winwood.
ReplyDeleteHm, If I pay someone to text me, would that be some form of prostitution? Would I like it? Oh, the soul searching!!!
Thanks for getting deep on me! (yeah, yeah "that's what she said.")

ReplyDeleteThanks for that Steve Winwood!
ReplyDelete* Bathwater... you are right about Steve Winwood! As for the text messages... I would imagine most of mine are more along the line of 'hi dad. need money. thanx' or shiznit like that...
ReplyDelete* Madwoman...I'll text you and you won't even have to pay me... ;o) Hell, I'll even try to spell correctly!! :oD I don't know if your example would be prostitution or not, but I'm sure the gov't would come up with some way to tax it...
* JenJen... I'll text you... or just send some lewd and lacivious emails... ;o)
* Wishing.. yeah, isnt that place great?! When you were there, did you get to hear/see any music in the Commissary?? Were you there during one of the Blues events?? Juke Joint Fest cant be too far away...

We were there last June. We were so stoked to go to the Commissary to hear some music but the place was rented out for a reunion! Just my luck. Bummer!! We missed out on that and the possiblity to make some new friends. So we opted to hang out with Bill in the lobby. On the upside the Cadilac Shack was fun and the time ALONE was incredible ;) Are you going this year? Here is my link on Youtube if you want a tour of our shack.
