"Silent Night...:

Repost from Last Christmas...

We, Three Kings Of Orient Are...

I think my favorite Christmas Story is that of the Christmas Star and the Three Wise Men...  at least that's what we called them back then... today we know them as the Magi...

According to the Gospel of Matthew, The Three Wise Men found the Baby Jesus by following A Star...  whch later became known as the Star of Bethlehem...

History makes allowances for many names for the Magi, but Western Christianity recognizes them as being Balthazar, from Arabia, Melchior, from Persia, and Gaspar, from India.

Each of the Magi brought a gift for the Baby Jesus... Gold, frankincense, and myrrh...
Myrrh was the most ominous of the gifts... Myrrh was an embalming lotion and was symbolic of Death.

Luke 2:10-14

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

By no stretch of the imagination do I profess to be a very religious person, but this Bible passage, for some reason, gives me great hope...

Merry Christmas to All...

And to All a Good Night!!!

  1. I've had several realizations this Christmas season... one is that by the time my mother was my age (47), she had 5 grandchildren. I have no grandchildren yet... while I don't wish children on my children until they are ready, I think I'm almost ready...

...because I love Christmas and hope and magic and the delight of it all reflected from the children's eyes...

    Happy Hoping!

    1. Merry Christmas, K...

I have no grandchildren either... and even though I have two children of my own, the odds don't look good...

I think that Hope is a good thing.

My affinity for the Religious aspect of this holiday season goes clear back to when I went to Sunday School... although I am not a greatly religious person, I do believe that my exposure to the positive side of a religious exposure helped to form me into the person I am today.

I love the clip from Charlie Brown Christmas...

      Thank you for that link,,,

      Always...

  3. Even atheists enjoy Christmas with all the trimmings. We just don't go to church or pay attention to the jesus-ness around us. We still believe in peace and goodwill and love and family and morality and all that.

    Off to open presents.

    Merry Christmas, Jim.

  4. Amiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!

    Merry Christmas!!!

You are exactly right in what you said above... There is a message of Hope and Love and Goodwill, and Family and Morality for everyone...

I believe that there is room for anyone and everyone to celebrate in the way that they see fit. Life, as I see it, excludes no one... well... almost no one... ;o)

I hope you all have a great day!!!!

    With Love and Hope!!!

  5. Yes, there is great hope. That is why Do You Hear What I Hear? is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It is so darn hopeful. My mom had Johnny Mathis' Christmas album when I was a kid and it was my favorite song on it.

Merry Christmas Shoes. I read your comment on my blog, but it left me scratching my head. Who is Mark???

    1. Happy Christmas Evening to you, Robin...

That is one of my favorite Christmas songs as well! It IS all about Hope... isn't it??

My Comment on your blog was attributed to the work that Mark Koopman put together about Prayer... and your contribution to that endeavor.

I had thought about participating... but I haven't felt well the past couple of weeks due to a really bad lung infection... Blah... I will get better...

    3. This has really kicked my butt... I do believe it is related to those spells where I lose my voice from time to time...

I will be better... I trust all is well with you...

  6. Greetings, my good friend,

We live in hope for a better reality for this world. I do not believe in any religion. However, the spirituality of the words is embraced.

I hope you had a wonderful Boxing Day Eve, um, Christmas Day, good sir.

    1. Greetings to you, Gary... and I trust that you had a marvelous Boxing Day... and if you celebrate the Winter Solstice, as quite a few of my friends do, I hope that was equally a wonderful time for you.

I understand where you are... and I greatly respect that!
