  1. I sense a recurring theme here. Boots. Hats. Songs.

  2. Robin...

This evening has been a horrible, no-good, very bad evening... I would pack my bags and leave tonight if I had somewhere to go...

  5. Turn that frown upside down, friend. Today I wanted to punch someone in the face, but I didn't. I'm a lady. (haha) Anyway, I love Clint Eastwood but never watched Rawhide. I'm sorry you're having a bad day, hopefully it got better. Upside? It's almost tomorrow, life is grand. ;)

    1. Good morning, Yvonne...

I'm good at keeping things in perspective... I am ok with things... just received a reminder that one can never ever really estimate what another person will do... or is capable of doing...

You are right, however... everyday IS a good day...

      How are you??

  6. You're so right. There's just something about cowboys...drool... it's that raw, masculine thing.

Personally, I don't pick up on that same issue with cowboys that you do... but I do understand what you are saying!!

  7. Must be in the air (bad evening last night). It's been absolutely weird for the last two days. And I have been very quiet and distant myself with coworkers and friends. U seem to be struggling and I'm sorry for that--ur sister's death. This is an Agatha Christie quote that happened to fall open in my 2009-2013 journal. I thought it appropriate for the day's events "If the thing you want beyond anything cannot be, it is much better to recognize it and go forward instead of dwelling on one's regrets and hopes." I believe my unsettled feeling is based upon some things happening that are out of my control. I suppose u might feel that way too. Boots, cowboy hats and cowboys songs. Probably makes u think of Utah and a special spiritual place for u. I read ur sister's obituary. It was quite lovely the things said about her. We love them and we dislike the things our siblings do. And it brings us much hurt and confusion. Press through press through is all I can say. This too shall pass.

    1. Good morning, Stormy...

I had written this post before the event that caused my funk occurred... it's still relevant however... at times, I want to pack up what I want... need... and go away...

Things are ok... things are going to be ok...

These kinds of events just serve as reminders.

  8. PS It helps to have a good cry too. I had one the other night in my Coffeehouse coworker's arm. He asked me what was wrong and then the tears just started flowing and I said "I'm just having a bad day."

  9. When I moved to the south my biggest fear was ten-gallon hats, gun-racks and giant belt buckles. In my opinion, you don't get to be a cowboy unless you have some cows. :)

    1. Good morning, Ella... where in the South are you?

Ten-gallon hats, gun-racks and belt buckles aren't anything to fear...

(I almost typed ten-gallon racks... HAR!!!)

I don't want any cows... but I would love to have two mules...

I trust you are having a good day!

I LOVE that song... and I started to include it... but it didn't fit the tone of the post at the time I was writing it...

How are things up your way??

  12. Shoes: You have some great friends, even online. Friends are always available to help. That's what I learned from those same cowboys that I loved.

    1. Good morning!! You are exactly right, JJ... and that's why I don't mind posting what I do here... I did take my last post down because of a comment someone posted that was rather hurtful... I don't understand that side of people... I imagine that i will re-post it...

All in all, cowboys are good guys...

I hope all is well with you today!

  13. I understand the need and want to "runaway" to the place that we think we can find our soul.

U are right. History keeps repeating itself in our lives.

Hopefully, there is someone around u a family member or friend that will recognize ur feelings and just give u a shoulder to cry on.

Music and pictures of things I like and my pup are helping me survive these blue times.

Take care as best u can.

  14. You know, I don't believe I have ever seen a single episode of Rawhide. I didn't even realize it was a TV series until you blogged it. I feel like I've missed out on something now.

    1. Hi there, Emile... 'Rawhide' was an hour long series when it aired. That format gave them the opportunity to do more in-depth shows.

I think it was one of the best TV westerns ever...

  15. So if you had some of those cool boots you'd have to change your name from Red Shoes to Technicolor Boots. Besides all those other things, cowboys don't have to deal with stuff like campus politics and quirky students. But they probably do run into the occasional jerk. If that happened to Cowboy You, would you sing the blues by the campfire, or challenge them to a duel? Or maybe write a nasty song about them? See, now I've given you some ways to imagine feeling better or getting even, in a parallel universe.

    1. Hi there, Blissed-Out...

I would wear a pair of RED Cowboy boots in a New York Minute!!!

In the scenario you present, what would my response be??

I'm thinking it would be a combination of comments I use that I heard Mom and Dad say... it would be...

"Bless Your Heart (Mom), Son (Dad).

I remember from time to time, Dad talking to some people, and he would call them, "Son"...

I asked him one day why he did that, and he told me that "Son" was short for "Son Of A Bitch"...

... and it all made sense.

I've always liked the ideas of a 'Parallel Universe...'

  16. I think cowboys are cool because they get to ride horses!!

Well Shoes it was my turn this week to deal with death and funerals. My x-husband's dear Aunt B went in the hospital last Monday and they found she had cancer all over. She past away on Friday and her funeral was yesterday.

We both need to escape from this month.

I would prolly just have the bubble gum cigars... that is, if they make them anymore...
