"I'd have you anytime" is one of my all-time favorites...

You know Shoes...I love you to death, but this death kick you're on...I don't think it's good for you. I could be wrong. Forgive me. But you have much life left to live. Your future and all choices are your own, for better or for ill. Get up on those Red Shoes and start dancing my friend. Your time is as short as those you mourn. LIVE Shoes. Do it for both of us.
ReplyDeletedamn, has it really been 10 years? george was the best one.
ReplyDeleteTen years!?! Wow! 31 for John on 12/08. Where does the time go?
ReplyDeleteHard to believe it's been ten years for George already. My aunt is a huuuuuuuge Beatles fan (despite my youth, I am as well); I remember her being quite inconsolable when he passed away. Nowhere near as inconsolable as she'll be when Paul goes. Oh, how she loves Paul.
ReplyDeleteAhhh. George was also my favorite!
ReplyDeleteMy fav too.
ReplyDeleteGeorge was my favorite too, Shoes. He had such talent, but it was quiet and reserved, and it felt like you had to be friends with him first before he'd share his brilliant thoughts with you.
ReplyDeleteBecause I know you're as irreverent as I am, I'll share this actual conversation that I had with a couple of my friends a few weeks ago:
Friend A: (looking at a Beatles print of George Harrison on my wall) Aw, man, I heard he died.
Me: George Harrison?
Friend A: Yeah. That sucks.
Me: He died a while ago, though.
Friend B: Seriously? I thought he was murdered.
Me: No....
Friend A: Yeah, he was murdered! He got shot.
Me: Are you thinking of John Lennon? Seriously?
Friend A: No! I heard someone broke into his house and shot him.
Me: He died of cancer.
Friend B: Really? He wasn't shot?
Friend A: I could have sworn he was shot.
Me: Yeah, actually, someone broke into his house, and shot him. With cancer. Ten years ago.
Friend A: Duuuuuuude...
This conversation actually happened. And no one was stoned. Well, maybe Friend A a little.
It's still strange for me to think of him being dead. I remember John Lennon being murdered, but the idea of a rockstar just dying from cancer like the rest of us somehow seems ... wrong.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute and what a perfect song choice too.
ReplyDelete@ Gobbles, when I was younger, I liked McCartney... he turned me on to bass guitar. As I matured, though, I liked the spiritual message that Harrison picked up from the trip to India and the spiritual way in which he lived the rest of his Life...
ReplyDelete@ Annie... I PROMISE that I wasn't on some kind of 'death'thing when I wrote this... I loved his music and his Life message... it was just an homage to him. I hope all is going well with you... :o)
@ Magnolia.. yep, 10 years... I remember being at this desk when I saw the headline run across the computer screen... time does go by... rather quickly at that, too!!!
@Nitebird... I KNOW!!!! 31 years for John!!! How unbelievable!!!
@ Jack And Jill... First of all, I totally enjoy reading your blog!! Thank you for your kind words... :o)
@ Middle Child, Adsila... liked his Spirituality... his Peace that he seemed to master in the latter part of his Life.
