President Obama has really been working hard to pass his heath care reform bill... I'm not exactly sure what he is doing... sometimes he refers to it as 'health care reform'... and sometimes it's 'health insurance reform'... they are not the same thing...
Nancy Pelosi made a comment the other day that just should scare the hell out of anyone... the page count on this health care reform bill is around 2,000 pages... and we have always been warned by anyone who loved us... or cared about us... about signing anything we haven't read yet... Well... Nancy said... well.. let her tell us again...

Somewhere during the presidential campaign, Obama moved to a more centralist position... but after being elected has moved back towards the Left... more towards the Left than I am comfortable with...
I don't understand how this country can insure EVERYONE and say it's going to be economically feasible... it's going to be as expensive as HELL... however expensive that is...
One of his points is to require Insurance companies to no longer exclude someone for pre-existing conditions. There is no way that an insurance company can profitably insure someone with a pre-existing condition. I did say 'Profitably' because an insurance company is a 'for-profit' concern. They can not operate in a deficit scenario like our government has for way too many years.
If I get a ticket for 'DUI'... and I try to change insurance companies, I have a 'pre-existing condition' and the new insurer will either charge me a much higher price for my coverage... or won't insure me at all... Is 'Auto Insurance' reform next?
If I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast... just 4 1/2 years removed from the disaster that was Katrina... and my homeowners insurance rates have escalated because of where I live... that's a 'pre-existing condition'... will 'Homeowners Insurance' reform be next??
PLEASE don't think I am bashing the President... I wasn't blogging at the time that President Bush went into Iraq... I thought that to be a colossal cluster fuck...
As I have stated before... I feel I am a political moderate... to the Left of the Republicans... to the Right of the Democrats...
I think he has bet the farm on this legislation... and I don't see how he is going to win. Public sentiment is greatly against what he proposes... if it is forced through, I believe that the Democrats will take a serious beating in the Fall elections... and that Obama will not be re-elected in 2012... If it does not go through, the extreme Left side of the Democratic Party will see Obama as a failure... and the Democratic Party will be even more fractured than it is now...
I remember some political pundit that was talking on Election Night in Nov. 2008... about the person who would win the election... and what he should do...
His comment was... 'Demand a Recount!'

ReplyDeletehmm... i think i'll keep silent on this one. i make it a rule not to talk politics to ANYONE. i made the mistake of ONCE telling hubby that the second amendment was not designed to give everyone the right to have an uzi in their home... did i mention hubby's a conservative, gun toting texan? yeah... it didn't go over well.

ReplyDelete@ JenJen... I didn't think I was THAT fired up... LOL... I just don't believe some of what is in the bill that I've read... and that I've heard.. is in the best interests of this country.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why... when back in the Fall... when the Republicans and Democrats said that they agreed on 80% of what was in the legislation then... that they didn't go ahead and vote something through... 80% is a lot to agree upon... and over the next few years, I think the rest could have been negotiated... *shrugs*
@ Jaime... but does he wear fishnets when sporting those uzis?? ;o) A couple of family members once told me that they had no idea where I went wrong... and I asked for clarification... and they told me that I was SO liberal... when actually, I think I'm fairly middle of the road on many issues...
@ Bathwater... something akin to that actually happened not long ago when the human genome was discovered... the human genome is basically an indicator of what one's life experience should be... and insurance companies were looking at trying to underwrite based on that... THAT is scary...
Of course, I don't know what the answer is...
I just don't think this configuration is it...
