    1. Good afternoon, Robin... and Happy New Year...

What a horrible start to this new year... from this action in Paris. This, I fear, is the new face of terrorist attacks world wide now.

Easier to make happen... easier access to targets...

Supposedly, the targets were the employees of Charlie Hebdo... who slighted Mohammed.

If this is true.., if this IS the case... then why were the two policemen killed... one executed.

The news here in the U.S. blurred the image of the policeman wounded and on the sidewalk... when that terrorist came up and shot him in the head at point blank range.

It appears that two of the three were born and raised in France.

There has been a story in the news about a young lady who had gasoline poured on her... and she was set on fire. There was all kind of speculation... heard the FBI was in on the case... and that one of the 'suspects' was a 19 y.o. Arab with terrorist connections.

      They are here...

  2. So very sad. Freedom loving people everywhere should lament this attempt to curtail freedom of dissenting speech. When one person is silenced, we all are.

    1. Good afternoon, Stephen... Happy New Year...

      I so agree...

There are things that are said... things that are done... every day... but this isn't the way I react to the event.

  3. I think every year the violence has gotten worse.. Each year its topped by something more gruesome... A fellow blogger is a journalist up in Canada and after what I heard and saw on the news made me think of him... It seems it doesn;t matter what profession u are in... We're all a target nowadays..

    1. Good afternoon, Chris... Happy New Year...

Yes... what was the event recently in Canada? In Ontario, I believe... We are told to NOT profile... yet... who is committing these acts?

... and we seem lackadaisical in our response... or lack of response to these events.

I am reminded of a newstory from several years ago concerning Somalian pirates, a hi-jacking of a vessel... and their subsequent run-in with the Russian Navy...

The new story ended with a sentence that said something along the lines of... there were no survivors...

  4. Hi Shoes,

I have seen quite some of the cartoons. None of them insulted Mohammed. Or any other god.
They did laugh with extremist muslims. They received a lot of threats over the years and instead of backing down, they provoked, mostly making them look stupid.
(In fact, one of the cartoons shows Mohammed sighing "It's hard to be loved by jerks.")
    However.
    They laughed with everyone.
They made fun of Jews, of Christians, of politicians, the presidents, ...

Not always good taste, sometimes you could ask if it was really necessary, but basically they constituted the critics on society each society needs.

And it was always directed on people.
I have seen nothing about gods or religions in se.

Also, the cop they shot, the one that was on the ground begging them to spare him but they just shot him in cold blood?
    That cop was a muslim.

  5. Hi there, Stephanie... I was hoping you would reply...

First of all, this jumps out at me...

Also, the cop they shot, the one that was on the ground begging them to spare him but they just shot him in cold blood?

    That cop was a muslim.

Amazing... simply amazing... I don't know why it was necessary to execute the cop... and the rest of the people inside the building... if, indeed, the cartoonists is what they wanted to hit.

They sound like "South Park" in a way... they make fun of anything... anyone... everything... everyone...

What Charlie Hebdo did was satire... can our skins be THAT thin?? I am so sorry for what has happened... the world has just become a bit more meaner...

    1. Well... like that mosque-responsable also said: in their eyes, every muslim who is not an extremist is unfaithful and should be treated like the non-believers, and therefore muslims are just as much in danger as christians or others.

88.000 men are looking for them and still haven't found them, 36 hours after the killings. That's quite impressive I think (in a bad way).
They're tracked at about 100 km (60 mi) from where I live, so you can imagine it's all everyone talks about here...

  6. I'm proud of our late night comedians for taking time to address this last night. Being killed for a sense of humor is outlandish.

  7. We've got to do something. We can't keep letting these crazies get away with killing anyone who offends them. Instead, we seem to be opening our borders and just inviting them all to come to our once-peaceful nations and massacre us all.

  8. Heartbreaking tragedy. And the news footage-disturbing especially to see the police officer begging for their life and to be shot in the head. A life gone in an instant. And the lives of eleven and now two more in a hostage situation.

When will we all be at peace with each other???

    New Year's Post

"I will take some of my own advice that I talked about at the commencement address I gave in December 2012."

Music to my hears. I think 2015 is going to be a most wonderful year for you. Blessings will come out of what seems to have been a disrespectful way of ending ur time with the University. However, I feel that it will open doors for u to a more fulfilling life.

I am having a photographer friend take pics of "the" Professor in Elmwood Cemetery in a few weeks. Just relaxed photos of him. I don't want them staged. Just as he walks about catching him in his moments of joyfulness. I will be sending them out as New Year's Photos to family and friends.

Have a blessed day, my friend.

  11. If we change our national mindset from naivety to common sense, elect real leaders, and re-educate our young citizens that are learning in colleges to unite the world by holding hands and planting tomatoes on the moon, we just might make it. This is what happens when we allow 1960s radicals in this country to change history books to fit their political ideologies. When we allow citizens to burn the American flag and high school kids to wear Che Guevara tee shirts to class in the name of free speech, we actually lose our right to free expression. Freedom does not mean the right to do anything you want at the expense of a nation. A free society cannot thrive on pot and pie-in-the-sky philosophies espoused by politicians who only want to get re-elected by the ignorant, misinformed, and uninformed.

    1. You are so right JJ... this miserable thing we have for president is... pitiful.

Given his recent actions/ decisions with these various terrorist groups I am really starting to think he really is muslim... and our country... and its security... has been compromised because of the voters who put him into office...

      I am saddened...

      One of these days... maybe...

  12. My cousins live in Paris and as you can imagine, we were pretty worried about them. Thankfully, they are fine. But what a sad, sad day it was. Actually, what a sad time it is for not only ths country but the entire world. People are evil and relentless and cruel. Hopefully, things will get better for us. Hopefully...
