"Insignificant..."

Edited:  I was going through my blog role... and found this that I had written a while back.  When I saw the title and that it was still in draft form, that I must have made a duplicate of the previous post.  Evidently, I've had these 'insignificant' issues for a while.

Star Dust...

Have you ever just stared at the sky...?

To see what you could see??

I don't think one gets the sense of "insignificance"
until one stares at the sky at night...

I think this,  above,  is probably a true statement...

Stephen Hawking has made the comment...

that if we are ever visited by aliens from outer space

(not Mexico...)

that they are more likely to be like those depicted in

"Independence Day"

more so than those like E.T.

Anyway...

I digress....

I have been to some wonderful places... where you could lie on your back at night... and stare into the skies...

... and the stars seemed to be right at your finger tips...

Some of my trips to Nantahala, North Carolina were like that...

no light pollution...

The stars would be so bright.

I need to go back out West...

... if I am going to feel insignificant,

it may as well be in a place that I enjoy...

  2. I love staring at the sky at night from the deck of a ship, when the stars seem close enough to swirl with your fingers.

    1. Good morning, Stephen.. yes... that's how it is out West... or in the Smokys... get away from all of that light and its as if you can swirl the stars...

I am sure, given all of your travels, you have seen some amazing things!!!

  3. I am irreverent as hell. And when you said how insignificant we are, this is what I remembered...

  5. I love looking at the stars and yes, it makes you realise how tiny you are. Just a little speck of a thing. Too tiny to worry about things that really aren't important. But, no matter how insignificant, comparatively, you mean so much to some :)

  6. I am constantly watching the night sky. I have so many pix of the moon on my phone. One of my most favorite things when I was little was to lay in the grass and make pictures of the clouds. I need to do more of that now.

Glad you're in a better place! And no you're very definitely NOT insignificant.

  7. I am so happy to see this post even if the bottom line message is that you are feeling insignificant. Not true. But we all have difficulty forming perspective on how we impact others. I was *thisclose* to emailing you. Only your posting on FB saved you from that....

Letting go of toxic people, particularly family members, is difficult but NECESSARY. I am glad you sorted through the mess and decided to choose what was healthy for you. That is the best we can do for ourselves!

  8. If one person cares about you, then you are not insignificant. It only takes one.

  9. There he is... the one and only very significant Professor Red Shoes. You have been missed, sir. Looking back on my own uneventful life, I'm tempted to believe we don't know how to define the word intelligent. You're smart. You know what I mean. :)

  10. I used to live in the "country" and could see the stars at night. What an amazing sight it was. I never missed a decent meteor shower. Now I'm on the east coast and with the lights from the city, it's hard to see the meteor showers. Last night I tried but saw nothing. pfft!

  11. Every time we have a meteor shower Mother Nature insists we have either a foggy or cloudy night.

I love this post so much, this might be my fave!! Love the pics.
