One of my favorite bands of ALL times is Little Feat...
For a band that had a classic New Orleans sound,
they hailed from Los Angeles, California, where they
formed back in 1969...
George Barrere and Lowell George
My favorite album (yes, vinyl) is 'Waiting For Columbus,' a live recording and, to me, the bestest song on the album is 'Spanish Moon'...
The second best song on the album is 'Dixie Chicken...'
Lowell George died in 1979, at the terribly young age of 34...
Anyway... my daughter called me and told me that Little Feat is playing at Tipitina's down in NOLA on July 28... and she is getting me tickets for a belated Father's Day gift... I can hardly WAIT!!!
Paul Barrere is still playing with them... I'm not sure if any other original members are still with the band... but all the same, it doesn't matter...

I'm so jealous!!! I wish my kids would do something like that for me! Totally enjoy it because you so needed this right now.
ReplyDeleteThat should be fun! I saw them once a long time ago but unfortunately post Lowell George. I think the guy from Pure Prarie League was playing with them on that tour.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Fantastic, what a great gift!!! I also *love* Little Feat, and you're absolutely right about the two best songs on that album. (The third best is "Fat Man in the Bathtub" :-))
ReplyDeleteLet us know if you enjoy the show!
@ Liz... yes, I do need this! I've auto shopping this week. My vehicle is no longer road-worthy... I broke down on the side of a highway awhile back late one night, and I haven't trusted it enough since.
ReplyDelete@ Ryan... I think it would have been a great treat to see them with Lowell George... what a great voice and talent he was!! Tipitina's is a small venue... should be great!
@ Max... You are right about 'Fat Man...' I would have loved being a fly on the wall the night they recorded that album. The only other live album, in my opinion, that comes close is 'The Allman Brothers Live At The Fillmore East', back when Duane Allman and Berry Oakley were alive.

Aw! It sounds like you have a rare and very special bond with your daughter - or you have some serious dirt on her that she wants to ensure never gets out! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHey you... my daughter and I have a special bond... she's been through some rough, tough times and she tells me that she's thankful I was there for her.
DeleteI am going to have a blast!!! Thank YOU!
Perky?? ;o)

Wow, their music is amazing. I have never been to New Orleans, but always loved the music that came from there (even though they are from California ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi there... congratulations on having your art work selected for that publication! I hope it all continues to move forward for you!
DeleteLittle Feat is a great deal like Creedence Clearwater Revival... their music was labeled 'swamp rock,' with a Louisiana flavor... and they were from the Bay area of California... so it goes!
I am VERY much looking forward to this weekend!!! ;o)

So cool!!! You will have so much fun, I'm sure of it!
ReplyDeleteADORE Spanish Moon!
:) robelyn
Robelyn... that version of 'Spanish Moon' is SO much better than the studio version. As I said above somewhere, I would have LOVED being at that show...
DeleteYes, I am going to have a blast... ;o)

Awesome Father's Day gift. Pretty sure I got a tie.
ReplyDeleteLOL... that kind of reminds me of the Charley Brown Hallowe'en special... when all of the other kids get great treats, and Charley Brown keeps getting a rock... LOL
DeleteWho knows... maybe there will be a cool t-shirt!!
I hope your weekend is going well!!
